British Sign Language
British Sign Language support to the Edinburgh TV Festival.
For a 2nd year AVD has helped provide British Sign Language (BSL) support to the Edinburgh TV Festival.
Working with the Just Sign agency AVD supplied 8 signers with specific technical support over the week long festival. The Team of 8 worked in pairs providing BSL signing to up to 4 concurrent sessions.
Specialist support is helpful to allow the signer to do the best job possible. In this case we ensured the signer could hear the audio clearly while working. This is done by utilising our ListenTalk comms system as an in ear monitor for the on stage audio. The on stage audio is not usually available via monitor speakers as this can give rise to feedback issues as the signer will normally stand close to those on stage to allow service users to see both the signer and the participants in the same view. To remove the possibility of feedback discrete earphones carried the participants voices directly to the signer.
