A matter of life and death!

Supporting the David Nott Foundation with interpretation equipment means the service provided could literally be the difference between life and death!

The David Nott Foundation provides surgeons and medical professionals with the skills they need to provide relief and assistance in conflict and natural disaster zones around the world. Prior to the arrival of such catastrophe, local surgeons may have previously only been used to civilian medical emergencies. Their recent Hostile Environment Surgical Training (HEST®-UK) course, held at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, invited surgeons from Palestine and Ukraine. To ensure these participants could interact fully with the course, the charity enlisted AVD to provide a full booth interpretation system in the main class room and a Tourguide system in the wet lab. This allowed the team of interpreters to seamlessly interpret so ensuring vital understanding.

AVD’s ISO standard booths (ISO 4043:2016) provide a comfortable environment for the interpreters to work from when in the classroom.

The tourguide headset receivers used in the wet lab were small and unobtrusive to allow close up observation in a difficult environment.

With a smaller group it can be hard to justify the cost of interpretation but when it really matters to do it well you can’t beat experienced interpreters in the room with the delegates.

Client feedback was very positive. “…many thanks for being such a vital element of it!”
