Aberdour Festival 2024
Every summer we support the Aberdour Festival. The Festival is a great family orientated affair of music, literature and fun activities.

The Aberdour Festival is now in its 40th anniversary with AVD being involved for the past 12 years. We support the Marquee with AV equipment and staff as well as the Beach Day, (complete with a raft race and sandcastle competition). It is a chance for us to do something different from the corporate conferences we normally support through out the year. It can be a lot of hard work but it is a fun time to engage with our local community. We also use the opportunity to train some of our younger staff members and experiment with new gear.

Ian Rankin in conversation with Jenny Colgan in front of a full marquee.
One of the highlights of the programme was a Bevy and Blether with renown authors Ian Rankin and Jenny Colgan.
The audience was at capacity so to improve the view of those attending we installed cameras and repeat monitors down the length of the marquee.
This was greatly appreciated by the fans of both authors who stayed on and signed copies of their latest books.

Live music is a central part of any Festival
Live music is a central part of any Festival. It can however be disturbing to local residents. After some noise complaints the previous year we were tasked to reduce the noise impact to the surrounding area without impacting to much on costs or the attendee experience. To help in this regard we used a new d&b Line Array PA system sub hired from MM Sound & Lighting this type of PA is more directional and pushes the audio forward with less energy radiating backwards towards the residential houses close by. We also lined both the back of the Marquee and the stage in heavy drape material. These two actions greatly reduced the residential impact and resulted in zero complaints in 2024.
The Festival Committee proclaimed the 2024 festival the best yet!
